PBM is a proven method for changing cells&#8217; behaviour using tailored beams of light that are shone into the skin of an affected area. It can restore normal function to skin cells affected by radiotherapy.<\/p>\n<p>This is where it gets interesting for us at Headcases. When used in the oral cavity, PBM can help return damaged tissues to normal function. The light has a direct action on the damaged cells&#8217; chemistry that alleviates oxidation (damage). This repair action can penetrate even past the area receiving the light, to help deeper tissues.<\/p>\n<p>It is this PBM therapy that Jacqui and her colleagues are trying to get funding for.
