We are holding a joint raffle with the Royal British Legion Ladies section to win this fantastic quilt, made by Angela. We mentioned in an earlier post that we are aiming to raise £700.00 toward the cost of a portable suction machine.

It is 140 x 170 cm, is made from 100% cotton and is fully machine washable. The quilt will be raffled at the Christmas party on 7th December 2016. Raffle tickets are priced at £5.00 per strip and are selling fast. If you’d like to help us raise the cash for this very important cause please contact us, or come to the next meeting on 2nd November. Tickets are also available at the Longton Royal British Legion Club and on the night at the party. Good luck!

We are delighted that Lisa Underwood, Ward 111 Matron, has confirmed the new ward nebuliser equipment is now in service. This helps neck surgery patients with a tracheotomy by providing a stream of warmed, moist air rather than the ambient cool, dry air. The equipment is typically used for around three days at the beginning of the post operative healing process and is a great benefit. Headcases provided £500.00 towards the £2500.00 cost of the equipment.

We have also provided the ward with a total of four portable nebulisers. These are available for patients to take home to aid their recovery. Our fundraising goes directly into equipment like this to benefit patients.

Our new target is £700.00 for the purchase of a portable suction machine. This helps tracheotomy patients by allowing them to keep their airway free without the need for a hospital admission. The patient can recover at home, and the NHS avoids costly re-admissions.

We held a quick, fun raffle at our last meeting and raised £21.00 from the raffling of just three items! If you can donate any prizes for future raffles please come to the next meeting in September or get in touch with a committee member – we’d be glad of any help with this.

Thank you to Danny, Kelly and all the staff and customers at CMC Stoke. They started selling our wristbands over the counter in the middle of February this year and have raised £29.68 for Headcases funds. The bands have also raised our profile in the community.
