Well. This was our first party night at the new venue. Around 30 of us gathered at the Saracen’s and settled in for a good catch-up. Several of our friends couldn’t attend due to illness and so on, or else the total number would have been closer to 40. Our best wishes to them for a speedy recovery. It was great to welcome Wendy back, and to see Jacqui, Hannah and Julie from the hospital.
Fred couldn’t attend, but sent along a lovely handmade Christmas cake and a pile of cupcakes. These were duly demolished, leaving about 20% for Fred and family to enjoy.
We held two separate raffles. The first was for fabulous hamper items generously provided by One Stop of Chesterton. It was great to see this won by one of our new friends, Janice – a bit of compensation for snapping a stilletto heel in the car park! Here’s the hamper in question…
Apologies for the lack of a photo of the large pile of prizes for the main raffle. It was a busy night, and the photographer was caught napping on the job… Enough to say a big thank-you to everyone who donated prizes, especially those who handmade them ( Andy and Rita, you know who you are ) and Halfords, Hanley. The grand total we collected on the night was £198.00, which is an amazing figure. Thanks to all who contributed, via ticket purchase or prize donation.
It’s a busy time of the year at the Saracen’s, but that didn’t stop Emma putting together a lovely fresh buffet. A big thank-you to Emma and our best wishes for all your parties and festive nights at the pub.
Judging by the sound level in the room, there was much conversation occurring throughout the night. I had to bellow to bring the room to order for a special birthday presentation for Jacqui – our Mid South-Staffs CNS. A signed card, and a gift from the group was followed by the whole room singing Happy Birthday, and cheering to the rafters. Once again Jacqui – thank you from all of us for everything you do. Well it’s time to thank everyone for coming, despite the grubby weather. Have a great Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Don’t forget, we don’t meet in January so see you all in February next year. To close, here’s a couple of shots of the folk at an early stage in the night.
