It’s been a good while since I posted a technical article on here, but I found this really interesting. PBM is a proven method for changing cells’ behaviour using tailored beams of light that are shone into the skin of an affected area. It can restore normal function to skin cells affected by radiotherapy.
This is where it gets interesting for us at Headcases. When used in the oral cavity, PBM can help return damaged tissues to normal function. The light has a direct action on the damaged cells’ chemistry that alleviates oxidation (damage). This repair action can penetrate even past the area receiving the light, to help deeper tissues.
It is this PBM therapy that Jacqui and her colleagues are trying to get funding for. I’ll keep you updated with any news on the project.
